Following a traumatic injury that damaged the eye’s ability to regulate light, a patient was left with severe light sensitivity, making everyday exposure to natural or artificial light painful and disruptive. The injury had rendered the pupil unable to close fully, a condition that can drastically affect one’s quality of life.

To address both the functional and corrective needs of this patient, we designed a prosthetic contact lens that not only limits the amount of light entering the eye but also corrects their vision according to their prescription. This dual-function lens allows the patient to manage light sensitivity effectively while providing the necessary vision correction.

The impact of the prosthetic lens on the patient’s life has been profound. They can now engage in daily activities without the constant discomfort caused by light sensitivity, enjoying a level of normalcy and comfort that was previously unattainable.

If you or someone you know is struggling with light sensitivity due to eye trauma or other conditions, a prosthetic lens might provide a much-needed solution. Contact us to discover how we can customize a lens to meet specific optical and therapeutic needs.
